As beauty brands seek faster launches, premium decoration, and more resilient supply chains, VIVA Healthcare Packaging continues to invest in North American manufacturing and vertically integrated capabilities. James Bokla, CEO of VIVA Healthcare Packaging, explains how VIVA’s in-house production, advanced decoration, sustainable packaging solutions, and innovative package formats help brands bring distinctive products to market with greater speed, quality, and confidence.

Beauty Packaging: What are brands looking for in a packaging partner today?

James Bokla: Brands are looking for more than a supplier. They want a strategic partner that can help them launch products quickly while delivering premium quality products with shelf appeal. Speed, reliability, agility, sustainability, and decoration have all become equally important.

Our vertically integrated manufacturing philosophy gives us full control over every step in the process. From molding and decoration to automation and assembly, virtually everything is done in-house. This allows us to shorten lead-times, maintain consistent quality, and remain agile.

BP: VIVA has invested heavily in decoration technologies. Why?

JB: Packaging is often the first interaction consumers have with a brand. This makes decoration one of the most powerful ways to differentiate a product.

We have built one of North America’s most comprehensive in-house decoration centers. We offer in-mold labeling (IML), silkscreen printing, heat transfer labeling, pressure-sensitive labeling, vacuum metallization, hydro-dipping, iridescent finishes, multi-color gradients, soft-touch coatings, textured finishes, and other premium effects. Viva’s products maximize the consumer’s First Moment of Truth (FMOT).

Because every process is performed under one roof, customers benefit. We can deliver faster development, greater flexibility, and consistent quality throughout the process.

BP: How have your packaging platforms evolved?

JB: Tubes remain one of our strongest product categories. Our mono-material polypropylene tubes meet APR Design Guidelines for recyclability. Our award-winning designs are available with a wide variety of applicators, closures, and premium decoration options.

We are also seeing tremendous growth in deodorant sticks and thick-wall PET jars. Our stick portfolio now supports everything from traditional deodorant stick packages to skincare, sunscreens, solid haircare, cosmetics, and whole-body deodorants in both round and oval formats.

Our crystal-clear PET jars, available in both virgin and recycled resin, continue to expand our glass replacement program, while our growing dropper portfolio provides even more packaging solutions for beauty brands.

BP: How is sustainability shaping product development?

JB: Sustainability is now part of virtually every customer discussion.

We have expanded mono-material packaging, increased recycled resin options, introduced refillable solutions for selected applications, and continue to lightweight many of our designs.

Equally important is manufacturing close to our customers. Producing and decorating in North America simplifies logistics, shortens lead-times, improves responsiveness, and helps brands avoid many of the hidden costs and inconveniences associated with offshore sourcing.

BP: What advantages does North American manufacturing provide?

JB: Above all, it provides confidence.

Recent supply chain disruptions have reinforced the importance of dependable manufacturing partners. Because we manufacture and decorate under one roof, customers benefit from shorter lead-times, greater flexibility, easier collaboration, and greater visibility throughout the development and production processes.

This integrated approach reduces risk while giving brands the agility they need in today’s marketplace.

We give customers peace of mind. We eliminate their concerns over long lead-times, unexpected quality issues, high inventory and high MOQ’s, rising sea-freight costs and high air-freight costs often associated with offshore sourcing.

BP: What’s next for VIVA?

JB: Innovation means continually expanding what’s possible. We will continue investing in advanced decoration, automation, sustainable packaging solutions, and new packaging formats that help brands stand out in competitive markets.

Our mission remains simple: provide Health & Beauty and Personal Care brands with innovative packaging solutions that are manufactured and decorated in North America, deliver premium aesthetics and performance, support sustainability goals, and help customers reach the market faster.
